U-TONE Range
Eleven panels. One substrate. One specification package.
Eleven panels
Seven wall panels and four ceiling designs on one recycled PET felt substrate. Mix types on the same project: one vendor, one fire certificate, one colour palette.
Wall · Perforated
UTC-CW
Geometric perforations in 40+ patterns, with the widest NRC range in the U-TONE system.
Wall · Fluted
UTC-FL
Vertical linear channels at 15 or 20 mm pitch; the specifier default for open-plan and hospitality.
Wall · Grooved
UTC-GR
Precision horizontal grooves with stronger directionality than fluted; preferred for boardrooms and executive suites.
Wall · Custom print
UTC-PR
Full-surface digital print on felt: murals, branding, or artwork on an acoustic substrate.
Wall · Inlay
UTC-IN
Two-colour inlay machined from the same felt substrate: logos or geometric motifs without paint or adhesive film.
Wall · Three-dimensional
UTC-3D
Deep relief geometry in pyramid, wave, or faceted profiles, and the highest NRC of any U-TONE wall panel.
Wall · Modular
UTC-JG
Interlocking modular tiles that can be rearranged or replaced individually after installation.
Ceiling · Suspended
UTC-BF
Vertical suspended fins that treat sound on both faces, effective in atriums, open-plan floors, and canteens.
Ceiling · Horizontal
UTC-CL
Horizontal floating ceiling panels for targeted absorption over workstations or meeting zones.
Ceiling · Open cell
UTC-OC
Grid-format open cell ceiling that keeps services visible while delivering NRC 0.80 performance.
Ceiling · Curved
UTC-PT
Curved petal-form ceiling elements in clusters or linear runs. The strongest visual in the ceiling range, with NRC 0.85.
Why U-TONE
Foam and mineral wool are the two alternatives most commonly specified against U-TONE in Indian commercial projects. Here is how they compare.
| Property | U-TONE Recycled PET felt | Foam panels PU / Melamine | Mineral wool Rockwool / Glasswool |
|---|---|---|---|
| NRC range | 0.70–0.90 | 0.45–0.65 | 0.55–0.80 |
| Fire rating | Class B1, BS 476 Part 7 | Typically unrated or Class C in India | Class A1 non-combustible |
| VOC / Formaldehyde | None: no adhesives or binders | Present in some PU variants | Binder off-gassing on install |
| Customisation | 11 profiles, 52 colours, print, inlay | Cut to size only, no colour options | None: concealed behind facing |
| Finished surface | Precision-machined architectural felt | Exposed foam texture | Fabric or perforated facing required |
| Recyclability | 100% PET recyclable | Not recyclable | Recyclable in select variants |
Certifications
All eleven U-TONE panels share one fire certificate and one acoustic test report. Specifying wall and ceiling types on the same project does not split the documentation.

52 colours
Neutrals, terracottas, slates, deep blues. The 52-colour range was developed with Colour Hive for corporate, hospitality, and institutional interiors. Custom dyeing is available at 200 m² minimum per colour.
In situ
Corporate campuses, government institutions, and hospitality venues across India. Unidus manufactures, ships, and installs each project in-house. No subcontractors.

We specified U-TONE Cut Work across three floors of the campus expansion. Lead time held within the committed window and the installation team handed over clean. We have since respecified on two additional projects.
We had three vendors on the shortlist. Unidus won partly on cost, but mainly because their fire certification and NRC data covered both the wall and ceiling panels. That simplified the specification considerably.
The project required GRIHA compliance documentation. Unidus provided recycled content data and test reports within 48 hours. No other vendor on the shortlist responded that quickly.
Installation
Unidus teams work in 16 cities. They manufacture the panels, ship to site, and handle installation. No subcontractors, no coordination overhead.
Aluminium Z-clips on wall battens, flush elevation, no visible fixings. Panels can be removed and repositioned without damage.
Acoustic-grade adhesive on flat prepared substrates. Fastest for large unbroken elevations, no battens, minimal thickness addition.
Panels on magnetic plates embedded in the wall finish. For installations requiring maintenance access or seasonal panel rotation.

Frequently asked
NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) measures how much sound a material absorbs, on a scale of 0 to 1. U-TONE panels achieve NRC ratings of 0.70 to 0.90 depending on the panel type and thickness selected. A rating of 0.80 means the panel absorbs 80% of incident sound energy. For reference, untreated concrete absorbs roughly 0.02.
U-TONE panels are manufactured from a recycled polyester felt substrate. Each square metre incorporates 88 PET bottles. The felt is dense-pressed to 180-200 kg/m³ and precision-machined to the finished profile. No adhesives, no formaldehyde, no VOC-emitting binders.
Yes. All U-TONE panels are available in standard sheet sizes (2400×1200 mm, 2400×600 mm, 1200×600 mm) and can be cut to project dimensions at our facility. Custom sizes and radius work are available from 12 m² per pattern. Tolerances are ±1 mm on cut dimensions.
Three systems are available: concealed Z-clips (standard for most projects), direct adhesive, and a magnetic system for panels requiring removal access. All three involve no major civil intervention. Installation is carried out by trained Unidus teams in 16 cities across India.
Standard lead time is 4 to 8 weeks from approved sign-off drawings. This covers manufacturing, quality inspection, and delivery to site. Sample boxes despatch within 2 working days. Fast-track options are available for urgent timelines; contact the specification desk for details.
Yes. All U-TONE panels carry Class B1 fire rating to BS 476 Part 7, meeting the requirement for Class B reaction-to-fire specified in most institutional and commercial briefs in India. ASTM E84 test reports are available for export projects or US Green Building compliance.
Yes. Unidus Acoustics is registered on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). U-TONE panels have been specified across AIIMS campuses, SBI facilities, and government institutional projects across India. GeM product listing codes and compliant specifications are available on request.
